This is the first time the event has been held in person in 3 years.  Whether or not an event is in person may seem trivial, but what it does for business is it allows them to feed off people who are interested in other companies at the event, so long as their booth or presentation is effective at grabbing their attention.  There are events where simply being at the event can give a company enough goodwill that buying volume starts rolling in and the stock price pops.  And often times, if the event is a known event where companies have always gone to excite the crowd, sign new contracts, introduce new data or products, the runup period leading up to the event can be huge also.

As such, both types of traders might be interested in this event, depending on the company they are watching.  Typically, holding all else equal, larger companies are going to react much less to presentations unless there is truly significant, new information.  Usually that comes in an 8k, but the event can still create hype or be timed closely with when a company has to file said 8k.

Runup traders, who opt to “buy the rumor and sell the news” might find a trade here with a ticker that may have sold off leading up to the event, or if the company has a smaller float.  This event doesn’t have a lot of smaller companies.  IOT might be worth tracking, especially the 1 and 4 hour MACD and Williams %R, to see when the consistent, slower trend first goes bullish in the weeks leading up to the event.
