This is a Medium AI event — lets say with aspirations to become much larger, where many small and a few large companies are presenting in the same space.  A lot of times, the smaller companies that have exciting presentations can piggy bank off the larger companies that are naturally drawing more people to visit their booths, and increase how far they can spread their message.  We like to try to find the smaller camp companies presenting at events like this and play the runup into the event.  That is to say, a lot of the traders who are short-term minded, look at events like this as drawing attention, and the period before the event is commonly referred to as the “rumor period.”  A lot of traders “buy the rumor, and sell the news,” which means they look for bullish technicals leading up to the event, buy in the weeks ahead, and hold until either the day before the event, or the day of the event.  The day of the event is the “news” from the “buy the rumor and sell the news” sentiment.  Even if the news is positive, if the previous two weeks had the stock price move up 20% or more, it probably is completely baked in and traders are going to protect those profits (and sell).
