Oppenheimer Summit for Emerging Biotechnology (INAB)

July 20, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Oddly enough, there are so many Oppenheimer Events that this one is not as easy to find.  However, below is the PR put out by INAB which declared this event and two others as July Presentations.

For a Small Cap ticker like INAB (at the moment, without the Oppenheimer schedule, INAB is the only one we can place at this event.  I am sure there are others), the runup to the event can be especially interesting.  The people who play runups live by the mantra, “buy the rumor, sell the news,” which they can do for a couple reasons.  One may be because they believe the stock is going to rise dramatically before the news, and then the news is not going to meet the elevated expectations.  Another may be because they believe the news won’t be as good, and therefor the risk of holding for the actual event isn’t worth sacrificing whatever gains they got from the weeks leading up to the event.

The runup period is made more attractive if the company had experienced a selloff with a couple weeks or more left before the event.  A well publicized event can start to generate buying interest 6 or more weeks in advance.  And if there was a selloff at any point during the runup period, the recovery could be aided by the optimism that the upcoming event generates.  The runup traders would have their eyes on the longer term technicals (4 hour candles and 1 hour candles) to catch the psychological shift in the markets appetite for the particular ticker, especially the MACD, Williams %R, and DPO_MOBO.

Another group of traders who might be looking at this event is the guys who want to make a decision based on whatever the news is.  Events like this presentation, which is being made for a group of investors, aren’t ones that often bring anything new to the table.  The people attending the event are more likely than not already holding shares of the company through their Oppenheimer investment, and even a good presentation isn’t likely to get them to buy MORE shares.  It is more meant to reassure them that their investment was smart.  However, if an investor had extra insight into the fundamentals of INAB and the information they could be presenting, they may develop a bullish hypothesis.  Those traders would be relying more on actual comments made by management, recent SEC filings (especially 8Ks), etc.
