Enercom Denver (GEVO, CRK, ICD, WTTR, IMMP, See desc for full list of Companies)

August 7, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

This event is relatively big, and has a lot of companies involved.  The entire list of companies presenting includes: GEVO, APA, PDCE, SM, DEN, REI, EP, BATL, NCSM, CRK, NBR, WTTR, NR, EPM, ICD, IMMP.

Many of these companies are large cap companies, and they have presentations all the time.  So they are used to drawing in crowds, making a big fuss, using PR to get investors excited, but really not seeing much change their stock price.  A, Large Caps have tons of shares, and B, Investors of large companies don’t react as much to hype.  However, the smaller companies that are presenting here are getting the publicity from the event, and their exposure increases because they have the fans of all these other companies at their beckoned call (depending on how strong their booths or presentations are).

Traders who are looking for volatility, either during the runup to the event or from the event itself, are more likely looking at the small cap companies involved.  ICD, IMMP, GEVO are three that stand out as being Social Media favorites that can get a lot of hype and people talking about them leading up to and on the day of events like this.  Certain traders, the “buy the rumor sell the news” crowd, would be using this volatility to buy these companies at some point in the weeks leading up to the event, with the intention of selling BEFORE the official news or event takes place.  These traders would monitor the technicals and price action, looking for a psychological  bullish period.

Event based traders might use the event as a way to scalp or trade these companies AFTER the news.  The runup traders would say they’re crazy, but Event Traders who are successful would be knowledgeable about the fundamentals of these companies, and possibly have insight on what they may be presenting about-whether its new info or not, etc.
