EYEN, OCUP, OTLK, RGNX (See desc. for entire list) – Eyecelerator at AAO

September 29, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Companies Presenting: OCUP, OTLK, RGNX, APLS, ISEE, OPT, ALC, TARS (sourced from the link to the Program below)

This event is lesser known, but one key thing to notice in the Program linked below is that there are discussions about investments in between company presentations.  As a matter of fact, taken straight from the program, to start off they are having a discussion with investment experts about the financing for the “next wave of eye care innovation.”  So, to put it simply, they know who they’re audience is:

“9:00-9:30am

Moderator: Gil Kliman, MD

A diverse, multigenerational panel of investment experts explore the interdependent roles of venture capital, private financing and global strategics in funding the next wave of eye care innovation.

Panel:

  • Franck Leveiller, Alcon

  • William Link, PhD, Flying-L-Partners

  • Mariam Maghribi, Shifamed

  • Biren Mehta, Venture Investments, Johnson & Johnson

  • Jeffry Weinhuff, Visionary Ventures”

For the runup traders, at some point in the weeks leading up to the event, the optimists will take over. The bullish price action will correlate with the Williams %R, MACD, PPS, TTMScalper, etc. So the runup traders who have their TOS set up to monitor those are in the best shape. The week before this event we have the last of 3 very bearish market wide catalysts, so any price dips prior to the event could be extra attractive for these any any other “catalyst” plays.

For the “Event” traders, within the list of companies presenting, there is a lot of variety.  Some very small cap, some mid cap, some highly volatile, some stable, etc.  One thing we can glean from this is that the majority audience will inevitably NOT be shareholders in any one company.  So the presentations are landing on ears of: A) people who wanted to see it, B) people who didn’t care if they saw it but are going to, and C) Investors and potential investors, both private and hedge fund level.   Another thing we can glean from this is that if a smaller cap company makes a strong presentation, the volume in the days after could spark a rally.  Typically the people who work on, and use, the catalyst calendar are “buy the rumor, sell the news” people.  But in this case, the GOAL of the presentations is to attract investments for the “next round of eye care innovation.”  So I am sure some of us will be eagerly watching the results of the presentations, and looking for the online PDFs if the companies are so kind as to make them easy to find!
