This is a huge event with some gigantic companies right next to some tiny little companies. Events like this can bring in a lot of volume to a smaller company that has a great presentation and benefits from a crowd generated by one of the larger companies, who just happen to stick around and hear the presentation from a company they didn’t intend on hearing. As such, Afterglow Traders do have some reasons to keep their eyes on these after an event like this.
Simultaneously, Event Traders might be able to find some ideas by monitoring the volume of the smaller companies and comparing it to average daily volume. If one of the smaller companies clears average daily volume early in the day, it might be a sign that their presentation is landing on the right ears, and people are buying as a result.
Lastly, the “Runup” Traders, who buy rumors and sell news, might find some nice reversal charts in the weeks leading up to this event. These traders might want to know the risk of dilution from the companies to make sure they aren’t playing with fire. This event is big enough where there could be multiple rounds of PR from both the company and from the American Association for Cancer Research, so that could help bring in volume in the weeks and days ahead of the event.
