This even lasts until 4/26, and the data presented during this event can drive renewed interest in these companies. It is not a widely discussed event on Social Media, so the “runup” period can be less volatile.

Some traders will still look at this as a “Runup” opportunity, especially if there is growing interest in out of the money call and put options for the options contracts with an expiration date the Friday after the event.

Other traders may use the event as a short term catalyst, rather than playing the multiweek runup period before the event. These traders likely have a more thorough knowledge of current studies the companies participating in the event are doing, and what previous data has suggested in terms of safety and efficacy. As always, the day of an event can be extremely volatile, and even if the event is widely perceived as “positive,” price spikes can be sold off rapidly or the anticipated positive price action could already be priced into the stock. These are all subjective judgements traders must make before determining a strategy!
