BTAI – Key Opinion Leader Day Event (Phase 2 data)

This is a big event, where the CEO and management of BTAI will review the data from a Phase 2 study.  This is when traders can be a little extra emotional.  Phase 2 is technically a safety study, not an efficacy study.  So wouldn’t you know it, traders put a LOT of focus on the early efficacy data, which acts as a forecast.  We have seen phase 2 data light a huge fire under a few companies when it comes back favorable, and therefor the Event Traders and Runup Traders have a little catalyst worth looking more into in the days and weeks leading up to the event.

Event Traders may even join the Runup Traders by attempting to get a position in the stock before the news.  They will want to have some insight on what could be presented, perhaps even having an older knowledge of what the data from the phase 1 or earlier studies had shown.

Afterglow Traders might have a play here as well, especially if the data is very positive.  However, a smart management team would look at a suddenly inflated stock price as a way to raise funds while diluting with a lot less shares than they would have needed to raise as much cash, before the stock price popped.  So the threat of an offering is still there.
